WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

The Kansas Highway Patrol has identified the driver who crashed into the Arkansas River.

The accident happened around 7:20 a.m. Sunday. Troopers say Lexus Lemuz, 18, was driving east on K-96 between I-235 and West Street when her vehicle ran off the road. The teen's car struck a guardrail and a fence before landing in the river.

Lemuz was pronounced dead at the scene. She was not wearing a seat belt.
