Riley County officer hit during traffic stop

Kansas Highway Patrol is reporting a Riley County officer was injured after a drunk driver hit the officer during a traffic stop.

The incident happened around 1 p.m. Friday Seth Child and Farm Bureau Road in Riley County. Troopers say the 55-year-old driver swerved onto the shoulder of Seth Road and crashed into a Ford Taurus and the officer.

The officer was taken to Via Christi for treatment. The driver was arrested for aggravated battery, and DUI.
