WELLINGTON, Kan. (KAKE) -

Police say a 15-year-old student has been arrested in connection to a bomb threat at Wellington High School.

School administrators notified police shortly after noon Friday after the discovery of a note indicating a bomb could be found on the high school campus. Students were evacuated to the nearby Church Ignited, where parents were allowed to pick up their children.

A district official said students who drove to school were allowed to drive home.

Wellington Police Chief Tracy Heath said in a news release that officers conducted a sweep of the campus and no device was found.

Heath said law enforcement was in the process of filing a criminal case with the Sumner County DA's office.

In Arkansas City, USD 470 said on Facebook Friday morning that the district received several calls from parents regarding threats at Ark City Middle School. Local law enforcement investigated and believe the report was unfounded. Classes proceeded as scheduled.
