SALINA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Salina police are urging residents to check their bank and credit card statements after a skimmer was found in a gas pump.

An officer was sent on Monday to Rod's Gas Station at 1717 West Crawford. Police said in a Facebook post that an internal skimmer had been installed in one of the gas pumps.

"The skimmer is not visible from the outside," police said. "The skimmer also contained a Bluetooth device allowing for the transmission of the captured information."

Police believe the pump may have been installed the evening of Friday, February 23.

"The police department requests that citizens maintain a close inspection of their credit card statements and report any suspicious activity."

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (785) 825-TIPS or text SATIPS to CRIMES (274637).
