Still no sign of Wichita boy missing for nearly 3 weeks

Posted: Updated:

It's approaching three weeks since 5-year-old Lucas Hernandez was reported missing. Wichita police continue to ask for tips as searches by officers, volunteers and out-of-state groups have come up empty.

Police have said that the boy's stepmother, 26-year-old Emily Glass, claimed she last saw Lucas at their east Wichita home when she then took a shower and fell asleep on Feb. 17.

Drugs suspected in child endangerment case

Officer Charley Davidson said Thursday that Wichita police have been working with Texas EquuSearch in the investigation.

"We continue to ask for the public's help," Davidson said. "Somebody out there has information, and we're asking if you have that information to please come forward."

The tip line is (316) 383-4661.

Members of Texas EquuSearch were unable to locate anything associated with the case during their search over the weekend. A group from Missing and Endangered NW Missouri also searched on Sunday.

Family concerned about Wichita boy's welfare before he went missing

“Whether he’s alive or not alive, he’s alone and he shouldn’t be alone. He needs to be found,” search volunteer Lisa Wood said.

Police say if you’re out helping with these search parties and find anything suspicious, don't touch it and call (316) 383-4661. Davidson said Monday that investigators continue to get tips.

Glass was charged last month with one count of child endangerment involving her 1-year-old daughter and remains jailed on $50,000 bond.
