Firefighters anticipating a busy wildfire season

The dry conditions have Kansas farmers and ranchers on edge.

The big threat is brush fires and fire fighters across the state are preparing for what could be another bad year.

The fire danger will stretch through this weekend into early next week. The latest drought monitor shows Sedgwick county is still considered to be in a severe drought.

The Kansas Forest Service say its prepared to respond to fires and it's partnered with several counties to help if needed.

    The Wichita Police Department needs help finding a missing child. 11-year-old Joan Ibarra was last seen Thursday at Hamilton Middle School at 1407 South Broadway. It is believed that he walked away around 10:15 a.m.  Ibarra is a Hispanic male, around 4'8", 80 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing black pants, and a gray sweater.  Please call 911 with any information. The case number is 18C080719.
