PRATT, Kan. (KAKE) -

Firefighters were working Friday morning to control a fire at a cotton gin west of Pratt.

The fire was reported at around 8:45 a.m. A Pratt County dispatcher said the fire involved only cotton bales.

There were no reports of injuries, but smoke was reducing visibility on Highway 54.

The Kansas Forest Service says fire danger will be extreme through western Kansas through the weekend into next week.
