A Wichita animal rescue group is offering a $1,000 reward for tips that lead to the arrest of the suspect in an animal abuse case.

An 8-month-old puppy was found in the Oaklawn area Monday, after a good Samaritan rescued the dog from the side of the road. Beauties and Beasts, an animal rescue group, said the good Samaritan eventually realized the dog had severe injuries to her abdomen, and that her mouth and eyes had been super-glued shut. The dog also had her tongue glued to a side of her mouth and bruising on her abdomen.

"Somebody did this on purpose. Somebody thought it was funny to torture this little puppy," said Randi Carter, with Beauties and Beasts. "I don't think it's funny, my rescue doesn't think it's funny."

She's convinced the abuser intentionally tried to torture the puppy because there was no evidence of the glue anywhere else on her body. Veterinarians also believe it was no accident.

"My guess is they held her head up, and glued her eyes shut. No way this was an accident, no way," Carter said.

The puppy is recovering, but with no identification veterinarians and volunteers don't even know her name. They do know the puppy is recovering, and has one more hurdle to recover from - ulcers that developed on her eyes due to contact with the super-glue. If that's healed, she may be left with just scars.
