Another day has passed with no sign of 5-year-old Lucas Hernandez. 

Some Wichita citizens joined in the search at two parks where law enforcement officers have already looked. One group on Monday searched Chisholm Creek Park, while another looked around Cessna West Park.

Officer Charley Davidson said the group searching Chisholm Creek Park found several items and turned them over to police. 

"The items were looked at by Wichita Police Department investigators, and none of the items located are going to be associated with the case," he said.

Authorities also searched Cottonwood Park near Harry and Rock Road, but they later cleared the area. Officer Davidson said Tuesday that no additional searches are planned at this time.  

The boy's stepmother, 26-year-old Emily Glass, was charged Monday with one count of child endangerment and her bond remained $50,000. 

The criminal complained shows the one count of child endangerment involving a 1-year-old on February 16, the day before she reported Lucas missing. A police report obtained by KAKE News states she was suspected of using drugs.

Glass has not been charged in connection to the boy's disappearance. Her next court date was scheduled for March 13.

Nearly a week after a 5-year-old Wichita boy was reported missing, authorities were again searching a local park.

Police blocked the entrances to Chisholm Creek Park near K-96 and Oliver on Friday and the nearby Great Plains Nature Center was also closed as they continue to search for Lucas Hernandez. Authorities searched those areas earlier this week. 

"It just really, really confuses me...a 5-year-old. I mean, I watched my kids like hawks whenever they were that young," Wichita resident Maury Cunningham said. "I’m really sad that this could happen in our community."

Officer Paul Cruz said a team and K9s searched several areas within the park because of information they had received through a tip. The search concluded just before 5 p.m.

"Unfortunately, we don't have (a) new update or new information," Officer Cruz said. "We are till asking the public to please keep your eyes out. If you see anything, if you have any information, please give us a call at the tip number we've been providing."

Wichita police have said that the boy's stepmother, 26-year-old Emily Glass, claimed she last saw Lucas when she then took a shower and fell asleep Saturday afternoon. Officers were notified around 6:15 p.m. that evening that Lucas was missing from his home in the 600 block of South Edgemoor.

Glass was arrested Wednesday and booked for two counts of child endangerment, one count involving Lucas and another involving a 1-year-old.

"The charges are related to new information gathered during this investigation," Deputy Police Chief Gavin Seiler said Wednesday afternoon. "Officers and investigators have been working on this case non-stop."

Glass has not been booked in connection to her stepson's disappearance. 

KAKE New spoke with the boy's father, Johnathan Hernandez. He says he still believes his son is somewhere alive and he is focused on finding him.

"Lucas is the sweetest, softest-hearted, kindest little kid I ever met," he said. "I'm so proud to be able to be his father. I miss him very much. I love him very much and I just want him to come home."

"It’s just heartbreaking. I feel for them. I really do. I feel for the family," Cunningham said.

Although people want to start search parties, Wichita Police Officer Charley Davidson said the department has adequate resources to search.
