Kansas teens arrested after stolen gun found in car at school

EMPORIA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Authorities say a Kansas high school student has been arrested after a stolen gun was found in his car on Wednesday.

Lyon County deputies were called to Northern Heights High School in Americus after the school's superintendent reported finding a firearm inside a student's vehicle. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the firearm had been stolen from another vehicle.

The sheriff's office says the student, 18-year-old Jace Sull, was arrested for possession of a firearm on school grounds, drug possession and charges related to the alleged theft.

A second suspect, 18-year-old Chase Weaver, was also arrested at the scene for one count each of burglary and theft.

The stolen firearms were recovered at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing and formal charges are pending through the Lyon County Attorney's office.
