Previous story:

Derby police are investigating after two men were found dead of apparent gunshot wounds Monday evening.

The department said officers were called to check the welfare of a resident in the 600 block of Tanglewood Ct. They made entry into the home and found the two men dead.

Police said the 39-year-old man lived at the home and was an acquaintance of the 30-year-old man from Wichita.

Investigators are working to determine if any of the fatal injuries were self-inflicted.

"We're not looking for anyone that we consider outstanding at this point, but if we gather information that points us in a different direction, we'll certainly follow up in that regard as well," said Derby Police Chief Robert Lee.

Lee added that there were no signs of forced entry into the home. The men are believed to have died during the weekend.

No names have been released.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Derby Police Department at (316) 788-1557 or Derby Crime Stoppers at (316) 788-TIPS (8477).

The last homicide in Derby was on September 1, 2013.
