SAN DIEGO -

Eric Hosmer is no longer a Kansas City Royal. The San Diego Padres have signed the first baseman to an eight-year, $144 million contract through the 2025 season, the club announced on Monday.

Hosmer had spent his entire professional career with the Royals organization, selected 3rd overall in the 2008 First-Year Player Draft.

The 2015 World Series champion played in 31 career postseason games with Kansas City. He set career highs in hits, average, on-base percentage, slugging, OPS, total bases, walks and WAR last season.
