Missing child's parents attend vigil

Posted: Updated:

Lucas Hernandez's parents held candles and prayed for their son's safe return.

Monday night's vigil was organized by a stranger, which is something that means a lot to the child's family.

Lucas's father, Johnathan Hernandez, spoke with us off-camera, expressing his thanks for the community. He said its good to see people in the community treating Lucas like he's their own. He said he is thankful for the support and like everyone, he wants to see Lucas come home.

Kim Ealum organized the vigil.

"You just can't help but hurt for them," Ealum said. "Being that we can't get out and we can't go help search, this is the next best thing."

Ealum has gone through the heartache of losing her nephew at a young age, which is why she was motivated to show Lucas's family support.
