Police: Wichita man shot during argument over food

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Police say a man was hospitalized in serious condition following a shooting Monday afternoon in south Wichita.

Officers were called at around 2:45 p.m. to the report of a shooting in the 1600 block of South Hydraulic, near Harry. Lt. Wendell Nicholson said the victim showed up at a nearby gas station to call for help. Police followed a blood trail back to the home where the shooting occurred.

The victim, a man in his 50s, suffered gunshot wounds to his arm and chest. He was hospitalized in serious condition.

Officer Charley Davidson said a 49-year-old man shot the victim during an argument over food.

A SWAT team was called to the scene, but the suspect was not located.
