Concerned parents met at Plymouth daycare after Gaston allegations

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Caleb Gaston worked at Plymouth church daycare last year. He was fired after being accused of inappropriately touching a child. Parents met at the church to voice their concerns.

As parents left the two-hour long meeting at Plymouth daycare they were even more frustrated and confused.

“I want to know what you’re going to do differently to protect children and families in the future,” a concerned parent said.

Some parents had kids who attended the school when Caleb Gaston was an employee. They were turned away from the parent meeting.

“It really makes me wonder what they’re trying to hide. Why am I such a threat to you? I am not the threat. Caleb was the threat to you,” a concerned parent said.

Eric Niemann was in the meeting and has two children enrolled in the preschool.

“No parent was informed to even talk to their child to see if their child was hurt,” Niemann said.

“We found it out on Facebook first before our own daycare tells us, who’s in charge of our children’s safety.”

Gaston was fired from the daycare in October after being accused of inappropriately touching a child. No charges were filed in the case.

Former Plymouth daycare teacher Nicholas Beddow was let go from the school on Thursday without a reason. He came to support the families.

“For what circumstances you don’t let them in, their child was affected negatively by a monster. At some point you should allow them to get an answer of why they weren't told,” Beddow said.

And now the parents just want justice for the children.

“I mean I strongly believe that the incidents at the YMCA would not have happened if the director and the church had followed the steps of reporting,” one parent said.
