WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

A cat is receiving emergency medical care after being rescued from the Arkansas River.

Wichita firefighters used a rubber boat to reach the cat who was stranded on thin ice Thursday.

The support group "Beauties and Beasts" took the cat they named "River" to The Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital of Wichita for treatment of a possible broken leg and other injuries.
