McCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. (KAKE) -

Emotions ran high at McConnell Air Force Base as the community gathered to celebrate the life of Don, a military working dog.

Sgt. Jeremy Allen, a Kennel Master at the base, said "It was nice to have people come out and get to experience Don, get to see all of his many goofy pictures we have of him, and just sit here and remember who he was and how good of a dog he was."

Don served as a patrol explosive detection military working dog for the 22nd Security Force Squadron. He passed away from cancer on December 8th.

“He was like a light switch, on or off," Allen said. "He was a really good military working dog and will be missed by everyone in the kennels here."
