A Wichita Police officer is being investigated for an incident that happened while off duty this weekend.

In video sent to KAKE News, a scuffle was captured on the basketball court Saturday in Augusta. An adult, identified as a member of Wichita police, is involved in the incident. A player is hurt on the court, and the man rushes to the player. The referee appears to stand in the way, and the man then pushes her out of the way to get to the player. He’s seen shoving a referee at the game.

Parents tell KAKE News that the disturbance involved a teenage official at the game between fifth and sixth-grade students.

The Wichita Police Department released a statement about the case.

"Wichita Police Department officials have been made aware of an incident during a basketball game in the City of Augusta that involves a department member,” the statement reads. “WPD will be reviewing the incident to determine if any department polices were violated. WPD officials do not have all the facts surrounding this incident at this time and cannot provide any further comment.”
