Derby man killed in fiery crash on I-235 in Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Authorities have identified a 30-year-old man who was killed in a fiery crash in Wichita. 

First responders were initially called just before 1 a.m. Thursday to a report of a vehicle on fire on I-235 near Meridian. The Kansas Highway Patrol reports a 2015 Toyota Corolla was heading south when it went off the right side of the road, struck a bridge pillar and caught fire.

The driver, 30-year-old Matthew Cox, of Derby, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The accident happened before a wintry mix arrived in the Wichita area.
