North Kansas preps for snow

Posted: Updated:
SALINA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Drivers along I-70 are were either loading up or getting ready to hunker down in expectation of snow.

Salina has not seen rain or snow yet, so drivers like Jim Ralston are taking advantage of the preparation time.

"If the snow and the storm is slow, we'll get out in front of it. If it really comes through and shuts the place down, then we'll hang around and spend the day in lovely Salina," said Ralston.
Street crews say pre-treating is difficult. The rain will start falling before any snow comes down, so any salt they would put down on the roads would wash away. Many drivers are concerned about the slippery conditions. Ralston says he plans on getting extra supplies and staying out of the elements.
