Local roofing company targeted by thieves

The owners of Dingers Roofing and Construction founds an unwelcome surprise in the parking lot of their Wichita business. Someone had driven off in their work truck that was covered in the company’s logo.

"It doesn't make sense,” Dingers owner, Luke Robertson said.

The Ford truck was a driving billboard for the Dingers business and no one here ever thought it would be a target for thieves.

"Came to work Monday morning to load the truck up and head out to a job and low and behold, the truck was gone,” Robertson said.

Surveillance video shows the two thieves in a red Ford pickup parked next to the Dingers truck.

“They backed in to the other side of the vehicle, to cover it from traffic and two minutes later they had it broke in, hot-wired, whatever they do and away they went,” Dingers owner, Craig Dingman said.

As quickly as they came, they were gone. Dingers isn't the only locally owned company to have its truck stolen recently.

Just last month there was a city-wide search to find Wichita Brewing Company's stolen pickup.

Again, you might think the loud paint job and logos might have kept thieves away.

“There have been a lot of different companies that have had wrapped trucks stolen so it kind of just seems like a trend. I'm not exactly sure but they're pretty brazen and they're getting bolder,” Robertson said.

The brewery truck was eventually recovered and now Dingers is hoping someone will also help them find theirs.

"It shows that people actually do care about small businesses in their community and that they're trying to help with the crime and prevent it,” Robertson said.

Dingers stolen pickup is a white Ford F250 with the license plate 691-KGB. If you spot it, you are encouraged to call police.
