Wins For Kansas: Wichita Animal Action League

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Each year, The Wichita Animal Action League helps hundreds of pets and their owners. The group says it tries to be there for the countless animals who are abused, neglected and abandoned. Stephanie McCurdy is among the volunteers and says, "our mission is rescuing animals in crisis, and sometimes that means rescuing people too."

McCurdy says along with educating owners and helping them with emergency supplies and food, it also works with low-income families to help them with medical assistance for their pet. "Sometimes people get in over their heads, says McCurdy. "Our goal is to be able to help them to keep their animal happy and healthy."

The Wichita Animal Action League was honored by DeVaughn James Injury Lawyers with a $500 Wins for Kansas grant.
