Burglar leads police on brief chase

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

A burglar is behind bars after leading Wichita Police on a brief chase in northwest Wichita.

Officers responded to a burglary call in the 12000 block of west Briarwood around 1:00 p.m. Friday. When police arrived they located the suspect in a Ford Mustang and attempted to pull the vehicle over. The suspect lead authorities on a chase, wrecking the car near Central and 13th, and eventually ditched the vehicle and took off on foot. The Sheriff's K-9 officer was brought in and the suspect was found and arrested in the 600 block of N. Wheatland Place.

The 24-year-old man was taken to the hospital for treatment for a dog bite and then booked into the Sedgwick County jail for aggravated burglary, theft, and other charges.
