Donor gives Wichita officer envelopes of cash to hand out to needy families

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

The Wichita Police Department says an anonymous donor gave an officer envelopes of cash to be handed out to families in need.

The department said in a Facebook post that officer John Biagini was working an assignment at The Lord's Diner at 2825 South Hillside, when the donor handed the officer 20 envelopes each containing $50.

But this is not the first year that the anonymous donor has asked Biagini to help.

"It tells me, inherently, there's a lot of good in the community. It just reinforces why we do our jobs because there is a lot of good in the community," said Biagini.

The donor asked that the money be given to families with children. Officer Biagini has been surprising families with these envelopes at The Lord's Diner.

"The support of the Wichita community to help those in need continues to be amazing!" WPD's Facebook post says.
