Woman shot in the face near downtown Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

A 26-year-old woman is expected to survive after she was shot in the face early Monday morning near downtown Wichita.

Officers were called at around 2:30 a.m. to the report of a shooting at the QuikTrip in the 700 block of North Broadway. Officer Charley Davidson said the woman was shot at an apartment complex in near Broadway and Pine and had gone to the QT for help. 

The woman was taken to a local hospital in serious condition, but Officer Davidson said her injury was not life-threatening.

Investigators had yet to speak to the victim at the time of this update. Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers at (316) 267-2111.
