A traffic stop leads to a drug and weapons bust

SHAWNEE, Kan. (AP) -

Shawnee County law enforcement have two people in custody after officers found drugs and weapons in a vehicle during a traffic stop. Police pulled a vehicle over before 8 p.m. in Topeka Thursday. 

Authorities say during the traffic stop they found meth, drug paraphernalia, and an altered shotgun. A bomb squad also had to be called after an firework device was found in the vehicle.

James Harris, 33, and Candice King, 34, were taken into custody for drug, firearm, and traffic related charges.
