Teen dies in accident in Anderson County

ANDERSON COUNTY, Kan. (KAKE) -

Kansas Highway Patrol reports a 19-year-old from Independence was killed after a semi struck his vehicle.

Troopers say the accident happened just before 10 p.m. Friday in Anderson County two miles south of Welda on U-169. The driver of the semi was headed north with it went off the road, over-corrected and re-entered the road hitting a southbound vehicle. Authorities say the semi sent the second vehicle into a ditch.

The driver of the second vehicle, Andrew Metcalf was pronounced dead on scene.
