WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Wichita police say a 35-year-old man has been released from the hospital after he was apparently stabbed by a woman in the back of a minivan.

Officers were called at around noon Wednesday to a walk-in stabbing victim at Wesley Medical Center. The man told police he was in the rear seat maroon Ford Windstar, his ex-girlfriend driving and a 44-year-old woman in the back seat with him.

Officer Charley Davidson said "a disturbance erupted" inside the minivan in the area of 2600 East 16th Street North, which is just east of Grove.

"The victim stated the 44 year old female suspect, seated in the back, began stabbing him with a knife, and then fled the vehicle on foot."

The victim was treated for a stab wound to the shoulder and released.

Investigators are working to locate the suspect.
