WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Sedgwick County is ending its pursuit of a Tyson Foods manufacturing plant.

In a news release, the Greater Wichita Partnership said it has become clear there is not support in Sedgwick County for incentives for the project. The news release added, "We thought it was best for the project team to let state partners know that Sedgwick County would likely not be competitive for this particular project."

Sedgwick County Commissioner Michael O'Donnell added, "This is one of those times when we need to focus our energy and resources on other economic development opportunities."

Tyson has been seeking a location for a chicken processing plant. The plant could create 1,500 jobs. Some people opposed Sedgwick County's pursuit of the plant,  due to environmental concerns.
