Kansas authorities warn of possibly tainted candy

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Authorities in Kansas are warning consumers after reports from several people of possibly tainted candy from Mexico.

The Riley County Police department said Tuesday on Facebook that Wamego police received the reports concerning "Bibi Frutix," a baby-type bottle containing a sugar mix and hard candy to dip in the powder.

The Facebook post said the label states the candy is made in Mexico.

"While this is an isolated report it is unknown where the candy has been distributed as the candy was not purchased at a local store."

The powder has not been analyzed, but several people told police the powder had a chemical taste and two people had adverse reactions to it.

"Anyone who has this labeled candy should take appropriate actions for their safety and may contact their local law enforcement agency if they have questions."

A quick internet search revealed the candy can be purchased on eBay and Amazon.
