Wichita police have identified a 32-year-old man who was shot and killed early Sunday morning on the city's southeast side.

The shooting happened shortly before 4:30 a.m. in the 4000 block of East Stearman Court, west of Oliver and 31st Street South. When officers arrived, they found the victim in a driveway. He had been shot multiple times and later died at a local hospital.

Lt. Todd Ojile identified the victim as Daniel Lopez-Silva and said investigators learned he had been at a home visiting friends off and on throughout the night.

"Mr. Silva had stepped out of the residence, was by a vehicle in the street when another vehicle pulled up and shots were fired from that vehicle," Lt. Ojile said.

Investigators are still searching suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call the WPD homicide section at (316) 268-4182 or Crime Stoppers at (316) 267-2111.

Lopez-Silva's death was one of three weekend homicides in Wichita, bringing the total of homicides in 2017 to 36, which includes the death of 3-year-old Evan Brewer. Police on Monday announced arrests in the case.
