Bangladeshi in Wichita ask for help in finding killer

Members of the Wichita Bangladesh Association are asking for help in finding the person who killed 26-year-old Hasan Rahman last weekend.

"With passing of Hasan, for the Bangladesh community, something died inside us. Just like something died inside other victims' families," said Mahmood Karim.

Rahman was the fourth murder victim in Wichita last weekend

Detectives said Rahman went missing during his last pizza deliveries in the 1100 block and the 1300 block of North Williamsburg, by 13th and Oliver, on Saturday night. He was found the next day shot to death in the trunk of his car near Douglas and Rock Road.

"I want him to get justice. He was such an innocent person. Who could have done something like that, such a heinous crime against him?" said Abdulla Naim, cousin.

Naim had to break the news to his aunt in Bangladesh that her only son was murdered in America.

"That was the worst thing I have ever done. I couldn't bear that. I felt so sorry," said Naim.

Those in the community helped raise $8,000 for Rahman's body to return to his family in Bangladesh.

"This young man, he had his whole future ahead of him to become a very prospective citizen. All of a sudden his life's been cut short," said Karim.

Rahman will be remembered as a hard working international student who hoped to one day become a mechanical engineer. He leaves behind a wife, younger sister, mother and father.

The Bangladeshi community invited the media into the memorial service to help share Rahman's story and ask for help in finding his killer.

Anyone with information about any of these homicides is asked to called police or Crime Stoppers at (316) 267-2111.
