Police search for truck that hit, killed man in Great Bend

GREAT BEND, Kan. (KAKE) -

Police are searching for a pickup truck that left the scene after hitting and killing a 65-year-old man in Great Bend.

Emergency crews were called at around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday to an injury accident in the 4200 block of 10th Street. Officers arrived to find James Zager lying in the roadway. He later died at a local hospital.

Great Bend police said in a news release that witnesses described a white or light blue full-size pickup hitting Zager and continuing westbound on 10th Street. Zager, of Holden, Missouri, was crossing the street when he was hit.

The pickup had an Oklahoma license plate a grill guard with an "oversize load" sign on the front.
