Students report abduction attempt near Hutchinson elementary school

HUTCHINSON, Kan. (KAKE) -

Hutchinson Public Schools sent out an alert to parents after three students reported that a masked man tried to abduct them on Tuesday. 

The incident reportedly happened after school near Faris Elementary at 301 East 10th Avenue. The students told school officials that an older man wearing a black mask tried to take them. 

The students described the man as tall and skinny. He was driving an older red and white pickup. 

"Faris has about 20 staff who assist with school dismissal each day outside the school, the district said in a Facebook post. "Our staff are aware of what has happened and are looking out for your students. Hutchinson police also will provide additional assistance."

Anyone with information is asked to call police.

Hutchinson Public School posted the following message on its Facebook page:

Parents,
We wanted you to know about an incident three of our students reported that occurred after school Tuesday in which an older man attempted to abduct the children.
The students gave the description of the individual as 
• An older man, wearing a black mask. He was described as tall and skinny.
• The man drove an older red and white pickup truck.

Hutchinson Police are investigating the off-campus incident, which was in the Faris neighborhood south of the school.

Faris has about 20 staff who assist with school dismissal each day outside the school. Our staff are aware of what has happened and are looking out for your students. Hutchinson police also will provide additional assistance.
