A 33-year-old Wichita man is charged with first-degree murder in the death of his girlfriend.

Aaron Suiter made his first court appearance via video on Wednesday. He's charged with Sunday's death of 25-year-old Bryena Mcquitty.

Officers were called that morning to the report of a woman not breathing in the 800 block of North Litchfield, where they found Mcquitty unresponsive. Officer Charley Davidson said she suffered some sort of trauma.

Suiter remained jailed on $300,000 bond. His next court appearance was scheduled for December 13.

Mcquitty's death was one of four homicides over the weekend.

Police have arrested a 33-year-old man for murder after his girlfriend was found dead in Riverside.

Officers responded at around 11 a.m. Sunday to the report of a woman not breathing in the 800 block of North Litchfield, where they found a 25-year-old woman unresponsive, according to Officer Charley Davidson of the Wichita Police Department.

"Trauma was located on the female," Lt. Todd Ojile said. "During the investigation, it was learned that the female and her boyfriend had come home in the early morning hours Sunday. There was a loud verbal argument. Sometime either during this argument or shortly thereafter, the female was assaulted and killed by the boyfriend."

Lt. Ojile identified the victim as Bryena Mcquitty. An online fund has been established to help her family.

Police said they do not believe the woman's death to be a random incident. Investigators were interviewing several people about the woman's death.

Aaron Ray Suiter was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on Sunday for second-degree murder. He was held without bond Monday morning. Kansas Department of Corrections records state Suiter served time on probation for drug convictions.

About 45 minutes after the call on Litchfield, officers found a 26-year-old man dead in a vehicle in east Wichita. Read more on that story here.
