WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

It's not every day that employees at Wichita's Eisenhower airport see a backup at the bag check counter, but the day before Thanksgiving is one of the busiest days to travel.

An estimated 51 million people will be travel between Tuesday and Sunday. While more people have chosen to fly this year, still almost all of travelers will be driving. 45 out of the estimated 51 million will hit the highways for the holiday.

According to AAA, the 2017 holiday weekend will see the highest Thanksgiving travel volume since 2005.
