North High School employee arrested in Oaklawn homicide

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office says the victim of Wednesday morning's stabbing in Oaklawn has died, and a suspect has been arrested. 

Darius D. Warner, 30, of Wichita, was booked into jail on one count of first-degree murder. He was held without bond Thursday morning.

The Wichita North High School staff directory lists Warner as a paraeducator.

"Since this occurred during holiday break, we won't address this until we return on Monday," said USD 259 spokesperson Susan Arensman. She would only say on Monday that Warner was placed on administrative leave in accordance with BOE policy.

Law enforcement responded at around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday to a disturbance with a knife in the 3300 block of East Sunview. They arrived to the the victim, 30-year-old Theo Lolar, with a stab wound. He later died at a local hospital.

Lt. Lin Dehning said there are no other suspects in the case.

Authorities say a man suffered extremely critical injuries in a stabbing Wednesday morning in Oaklawn.

Emergency responders were called at around 10:30 a.m. to a disturbance with a knife in the 3300 block of East Sunview. Capt. Mark Pierce with the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office said deputies arrived to find a male victim with at least one stab wound.

Capt. Pierce said the stabbing happened in the street. The victim, who is around 30 years old, was taken to a local hospital in extremely critical condition.

"We do have several possible witnesses and possibly a suspect in custody. That's going to require quite a bit of investigation."

Pierce said CPR was in progress when he arrived at the scene.
