Andale and McPherson to spar in 4A-D1 Sub-State

McPHERSON, Kan. (KAKE) -

We're in store for a wild night in McPherson Friday as the Bullpups are set to host the undefeated Andale Indians in their Class 4A-D1 Sub-State contest.

Andale hasn't lost a game in more than a year. That loss? To McPherson in last year's playoffs.

Another wild fact about this game is because of the East/West playoff formula, McPherson gets to host this Friday's contest because they are 53 feet farther west than Andale. Crazy.

The Bullpups have never been to a state title game in more than a century of football at MHS while Andale just won one three years ago.

"We've started well in every game and we've finished well, obviously so I hope we continue to do that. That's definitely been the key that our kids come to work everyday and they're ready to get better and give their best effort and so that's what made it so fun, we just have kids that want to play hard and want to do the best they can and that's been a lot of fun," Andale head coach Dylan Schmidt said.

"Obviously we want to get to the state championship game, but we want to be able to play one more week. We want to get out here and practice together one more week we have such a tight knit group through the coaching staff and the kids and the community and the administration, and again our goal is to just get out here one more," McPherson head coach Jace Pavlovich added,

The two will kick-off at 7 p.m. The winner will play either De Soto or Bishop Miege in the championship game in Topeka on Saturday, Nov. 25.
