Police say a 37-year-old man has been arrested in connection to the death of his girlfriend whose body was found in a northwest Wichita home early Tuesday morning.

Lt. Todd Ojile said the 42-year-old woman was pronounced dead just before 4 a.m. at a home in the 2200 block of North Parkridge Street, near 21st and 119th streets. It's unclear when she was killed.

Officers were first called to the home at around 10:30 Monday night in reference to some of the victim's property being found by Andover police. Officers were unable to make contact with anyone at the home and left

"Shortly before 2 o'clock this morning, WPD dispatch received a call from the Olathe Police Department in regards to a suspicious character call," Lt. Ojile said.

He said property and a vehicle belonging to the victim were found in Olathe.

Officers again went to the home on Parkridge, forced their way in and found the victim's body. Ojile said she died of blunt force trauma.

The 37-year-old suspect was being held by Olathe police. Lt. Ojile said investigators were traveling there to interview him.

No names were released, but Ojile said the victim and suspect were in a relationship.

The woman's death is Wichita's 27th homicide of 2017.
