Wins for Kansas: Kansas Honor Flight

Posted: Updated:

If you've not seen a Kansas Honor Flight welcome home, you've missed what it means to be an American.

"We want them to remember that what they did for our country is very important," said David Blanding, Kansas Honor Flight, "We don't want to forget them and we want to let them know the majority of the country do honor them."

Blanding is one of the many people who help make the Honor Flight so special. Over the years, more than 17 veterans have been honored.

"I've met people with the Battle of the Bulge, Iwo Jima, and it's just astounding what they went through and did for our country."

After an all-paid trip to Washington D.C. to tour the nations war memorials, the veterans arrive home to a heroes' welcome.

"When they come home they are surprised by the welcome home especially when elementary children are there and welcome home signs, ts not unusually to see them actually have tears from this," Blanding said.

Our Wins for Kansas partners, DeVaughn James Injury Lawyers have selected Kansas Honor Flight for the award for the week of November 5.
