WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

A jury has found a man not guilty in the deadly shooting of another man at a Wichita apartment complex last year.

A statement from the Sedgwick County district attorney's office said Kirby Lewis was found not guilty last week in the December 29 death of Robert Young.

The shooting happened at Woodgate Apartments in the 5400 block of East 21st Street, just east of Oliver. Officers arrived to find the 28-year-old victim in a hallway. He had been shot multiple times.

Lewis initially told officers that Young tried to rob him and that he shot Young. He was later jailed on suspicion of second-degree intentional murder.
