A report of an active shooter at a Garden City hospital has led to threat charges against a Western Kansas man.

Garden City Police were called to investigate a report of a possible active shooter at St. Catherine Hospital Wednesday night.  The investigation revealed Centura Health/Catholic Health Initiatives received email threats regarding a civil lawsuit.  As a precaution St. Catherine and a Grant County hospital were placed on limited access.

Two St. Catherine employees contacted friends and family about the change in security protocols.  A friend or family member who had been contacted then called Garden City Police to report an active shooter.  No shooter or victims were located.

A 51-year-old Ulysses man was arrested for allegedly sending the emails. He was booked for aggravated criminal threat.
