Kansas woman dies after crashing head-on into semi

IOLA, Kan. (KAKE) -

A 28-year-old woman has died after crashing head-on into a semi in southeast Kansas. 

The crash happened at around 9 a.m. Thursday about four a half miles south of Iola on U.S. 169. The Kansas Highway Patrol reports a minivan was heading north on 169 and crossed the center line.

The driver of a southbound semi tried to move to the shoulder, but the two vehicles collided head-on. 

The woman driving the minivan, Lisa Marie Strickland of Coffeyville, died at the scene. The semi driver was not hurt.

    Don't expect long lines if you want to see the newest Star Wars movie on this opening weekend. The theaters are packed, but it didn't take fans long to get in Thursday night at West Warren Theater in Wichita. Many fans came, but paid for their tickets online.
