WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

An off-duty Wichita police officer was arrested Monday by the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office.

The department did not identify the officer, who was booked into the jail on misdemeanor domestic violence battery and theft charges. The 9-year veteran of the department is currently on paid administrative leave.

The case is being investigated by the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, as part of an agreement made earlier this year to ensure transparency and avoid conflicts of interest.
