Authorities in Butler County say three people were taken to a hospital after a lightning strike Monday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called just after 4 p.m. to the report of a near electrocution at the Kansas Turnpike maintenance facility near Cassoday.

The Turnpike Authority says the people were working along the highway when the lightning bolt struck their vehicle. One person was inside the vehicle and the other two were standing nearby.

All three were taken to a Wichita hospital. Two were treated and released; the third person, a 37-year-old man, is in fair condition.
