Suspect in tax office shooting pleads not guilty

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

The man accused of shooting a Kansas tax office agent has pleaded not guilty. 

Ricky Wirths is accused of walking into the state tax office near 21st & Amidon last month and shooting agent Cortney Holloway.   Holloway had been at Wirths' home earlier in the day.  Wirths was being investigated for owing nearly $400,000 in back taxes. 

Holloway was shot three times and expected to survive.  Wirths is charged with attempted first degree murder.   

Judge James Fleetwood set a trial date of November 14th.

Cortney's progress in recovery remains the blessing we've all prayed for but he still has a long road ahead.
