American Athletic Conference commissioner Mike Aresco made his first visit to Wichita State since they joined the league back in July.

Aresco thrilled to have the Shockers be a part of the league noting the prominence in men's basketball at the school. The move also allows for new rivalries to be formed and old rivalries to be renewed.

"You're going to see a really, really competitive conference and rivalries will develop," Aresco said. "You're going to develop some rivalries with the UConn Huskies I'll bet because you become a real brand, and they're a brand and the same thing with Cincinatti, I guarantee you your final game with Cincinnati, which is on CBS at the end of the season, that's going to be probably a huge game if I had to guess and that's how rivalries will are made and the fact that you have Tulsa and you have SMU that's only going to help."

The Shockers became members of the league back in July. The volleyball team has already begun competition and is 2-0 with road wins over UConn and Temple.
