Open Streets ICT was a success

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Douglas was closed Sunday through parts of downtown Wichita, it's all part of a new event called Open Streets ICT.

Douglas Ave. is one of the busiest streets in Wichita for drivers, but Sunday, busy had a whole new meaning.

"It's going to be open, you'll see walkers, joggers, it's going to be safe, and a beautiful day! It's going to be like a fair! Come on down Wichita," Michael Scanga said.

Scanga is talking about Open Streets ICT, he owns Bicycle Exchange on Douglas and says Open Streets ICT has been in the works for years. He was excited to finally see the street closed down for families to get out and be active.

Along the four mile stretch from Clifton Square to Delano people were walking, dancing and probably the most popular, biking.

The event was from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
