61-year-old Wichita man dies following motorcycle crash

A 61-year-old man has died after crashing his motorcycle into a pickup near the Riverside neighborhood in Wichita.

The crash happened at around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday at McLean and Minisa, just south of 13th Street. Officer Charley Davidson with the Wichita Police Department said the 61-year-old man on the motorcycle was heading northbound and rear-ended a Ford pickup that was stopped to make a left turn.

The man on the motorcycle suffered critical injuries and was taken to a local hospital where he later died. Officer Davidson identified him as Arthur Pilant.

The 39-year-old driver of the pickup was not hurt.

Pilant's death was the 24th traffic-related fatality of 2017.
