Wichita police arrest 5 women for prostitution along Broadway
Wichita police have made five more prostitution arrests along the Broadway corridor, adding to the 19 who have been arrested in recent weeks.
Business owners we talked to say they're liking the results of a project aimed at reducing crime around Broadway.
For more than 20 years, Phong Nguyen's family has enjoyed owning the DC Corner convenience story at Broadway and Kinkaid. But he's seen too many prostitutes trying to work the corner of his gas station.
"There's girls of all ages, from young to old," Nguyen said. "You kind of wish that they had something else they could fall back on or some family to go back to."
On Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m., officers arrested five women for prostitution.

It's an ongoing effort to crack down on the illegal buying and selling of sex in the area.
"We'll be doing this repeatedly until it stops," said Wichita Police Sgt. Bob Gulliver. "So if you do come to engage in that type of activity, you might end up talking to one of us."
Six officers and a supervisor are part of the four-year Broadway Corridor Project. Their main goal is to reduce crime around Broadway from Pawnee to 21st Street. Since it began in July, their impact has been felt by those who live and work around the area.
Last month, officers arrested 19 people in prostitution-related stings. Police say they plan to continue addressing sex trafficking. TRAFFICKING.
We'll keep doing this until we don't arrest anyone," Sgt. Gulliver said. "That's my goal, is once we don't make any arrests, I'll be very happy."
